Biography
Tullman-Ercek is the James N. and Nancy J. Farley Professor in Manufacturing and Entrepreneurship and a professor of chemical and biological engineering. She co-directs Northwestern’s Center for Synthetic Biology, directs the Master of Biotechnology Program, and is the founder of Opera Bioscience, a company that develops advanced protein engineering and synthetic biology technologies for therapeutic and industrial applications. Her research focuses on engineering proteins and biological systems for applications in therapeutics, sustainability, and biomanufacturing. Tullman-Ercek received her BS from the Illinois Institute of Technology and her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin.
