“Design is the conscious effort to impose a meaningful order.” - Victor Papanek
We invite you to impose meaningful order during this chaotic time. Throughout spring term, the Design for America network remains focused on how to design, collaborate and make impact while working remotely. Initial opportunities to engage follow, with more to come.
PROGRAMS
To help make some sense of how to continue to make impact, we have organized some new programs. DFA welcomes the Segal community to join and participate:
MURAL Mondays
Need to improve your online design and collaboration skills? Join DFA Fellow Ross Brunetti for tips and best practices using MURAL, an online virtual whiteboard perfect for remote collaboration. Sessions are each Monday in April, 4-5pm CT.
Registration is free. Sign up to participate.
DFA Spark Series: Inspiration to your Living Room
We can’t meet up in person, but, we can stay connected, keep learning and continue to spark conversation about design and social impact. The DFA Spark Series begins April 8 and continues each Wednesday, bringing inspiration, insights, and design thinking right to your living room.
Doug Stuart, Lead Design, North America at Thoughtworks kicks off the series April 8;
Coming up: Jessica Helfand, Founder of Design Observer; Karel Vrendenburg, Director of Design, IBM; and more.
Have a topic you would like to see addressed? Let us know! info@designforamerica.com
Registration is free. Sign up to participate.
TOOLKITS
DFA is also actively building toolkits to which we invite the Segal community to access and contribute:
Remote Collaboration Toolkit
Over the last few weeks, student and workplace teams across the country face a new challenge: how to conduct daily tasks, manage relationships, and complete work during a time of physical distancing. In response to these new ways of working, DFA has compiled a list of resources to help.
Read through, comment on listed tools, and add additional resources!
Resource Roundup: WFH + COVID-19
DFA’s student newsletter last month shared a variety of work/learn-from-home resources, remote team building activities and ways to support your local community in the midst of COVID-19.
Please take a look and let us know which are most useful. Something missing? Let us know at info@designforamerica.com.
Feel free to pass it on!
