Can I apply Farley Bay Area Quarter courses toward my program requirements?
We recommend that you consult with your academic adviser to determine whether Bay Area Quarter program courses will fulfill your individual degree plan requirements.
McCormick students may petition to apply ENTREP 360-0 and ENTREP 380-2 toward their social sciences theme requirements.
How will housing arrangements be made?
You are responsible for securing your own housing in the Bay Area for the duration of the program. Many students in the past have opted for long-term Airbnb rentals in San Francisco proper. We highly recommend that students consider living within the city limits of San Francisco in order to fully immerse themselves in the city's culture and take advantage of the student community experience. Please also consider transportation to the Northwestern San Francisco educational space at 44 Montgomery when making your housing decisions.
Please email us at farley@northwestern.edu if you would like to connect with past program participants who can offer recommendations and insights.
How will this affect my housing if I will be living in a dorm during the rest of the academic year?
You will not be required to pay for dorm housing during the duration of the BAQ program. However, due to Northwestern policy, dorms will also not be held for students, and you will be required to reapply for housing upon your return.
To ensure a smooth transition:
- Before the winter quarter, fill out the Housing and Dining Accommodation Request form to cancel housing for the quarter that you will be studying in the Bay Area
- 2. Prior to your return to campus in Spring 2025, reapply for on-campus housing to secure your accommodations for the upcoming quarter. You can do so via the housing portal.
We encourage you to contact the Residential Services with any further questions. You may reach them at (847) 467-4663 or housing@northwestern.edu.
